The Spanish edition of Tim Jackson’s The Care Economy has now been published by Ediciones Paidós under the title La economía del cuidado.

Care is fundamental to life, yet occupies only a marginal and often contradictory place in our economy. It is essential work, on which our health and wellbeing depend, but is frequently undervalued and poorly remunerated in a system driven by productivity and economic growth. In The Care Economy, Tim asks how we arrived at this point, and what might change if we took health seriously as a collective goal and made care a guiding principle for organising the economy.
Drawing on the history of medicine, the development of capitalism and the philosophical foundations of health, he explores the political and gender dimensions of care, revisiting the origins of our understanding of wellbeing and the obstacles that stand in the way of achieving it.
The book offers a different perspective on prosperity, one in which care, health and human relationships are central to building a fairer, more sustainable and humane society.
